During a trip to Valencia, Spain, the inspiration for this series emerged after visiting an exhibition of archaeological remains from ancient Egypt. While photographing fragments of that civilization, I reflected on how structures of power have been a continuous cycle throughout human history: different names, but the same recurring patterns of domination.
Pharaoh, The Story Continues combines images of ancient Egyptian fragments captured in a museum with contemporary elements drawn from today’s world, particularly from the United States. Through these compositions, the series explores universal themes—ambition, manipulation, power, faith, war, slavery, conspiracy—that, from remote times until today, continue to shape the human condition.
The images float in an undefined time, reminding us that although today’s protagonists may differ, history—like the struggle for power and control—inevitably repeats itself.
